zusammen,birarada

2010

“Cross- cultural dialogue is a tool for integrating different cultures. The mutual language constructed between Linz and Istanbul has made it possible for the people of two different cultures to come together. The significance of the role undertaken by language throughout this process is inevitable. The project is a typographic installation which involves one moving and two static codes which yield “zusammen” or “birarada” (the German and Turkish equivalents of “together” respectively) when superimposed. The code which renders the words comprehensible represents cross-cultural togetherness and a mutual language.”
